It seems there are so many different options when it comes to potty training your furry friend. What are some good ways we can encourage successful house training? One of the biggest obstacles I see people face is their puppy will tend to have access around the entire house. This not only makes the puppy harder to keep track of but also makes less focus on where he should be using the restroom. Our puppies when old enough are raised inside with outdoor access. While our puppies do great with training pads if possible I would greatly suggest continuing this method of outside access in your home. When puppies have to go, they go. They cannot hold their potty at a young age. Generally speaking, a puppy can control their bladder one hour for every month of age. So if your puppy is three months old, they can hold it for about three hours. Don't go longer than this between bathroom breaks or they're more then likely to have an accident. When your puppy first wakes up in the morning or soon after he has consumed anything he will have to go to the bathroom!
