1. Snuggles are good for both of you!

We breed our Miniature American Shepherds to be social animals. They thrive on any interacts with their human. When you snuggle your dog it promotes bonding and can even show an increased level of oxytocin, known as a "love hormone". This hormone is released by the body during social interacts and is vital for building strong relationships. The same hormone is released by a mother breastfeeding her child or between people who are in love.

2. Cuddling can reduce stress.

Because cuddling with a dog can emit oxytocin this can make your heart rate become calm after a cuddling session. This helps to reduce stress!

3. It is even good for your dog

A nickname for your Miniature American Shepherd could also be "velcro dog". This is because your Miniature American Shepherd LOVES and THRIVES to be with you. Dogs are social, they need people too!

4. It can reduce your chance of a heart attack.

What does a lowered heart rate, calming session and time to settle do? It gives you a chance to relax, breathe and just be present. This can lower your chance for a heart attack or stroke.

5. It can improve your physical health 

Did you know the release of oxytocin can also benefit your physical health? High levels of stress can lead to weight gain, immune disfunction and other arrays of issues. The release of this calming hormone can reduce these, putting you at a better chance for good health!

6. It puts you on the upper hand for your pets health.

If you pet your dog regularly, familiarizing yourself with each of your dogs ligaments, coat, and exterior health you will be able to notice if something is amiss. A new lump or bump, their weight, coat and skin health will be something you are familiar with.

7. It can reduce anxiety and stress

There is a reason these dogs are used as therapy animals. They are smart and become in tune with you and your emotions. Miniature American Shepherds can offer comfort to those who are lonely, have anxiety and an other array of amazing dog given talents.

Cuddling the right way...

You must keep in mind that not all dogs like to snuggle, know your dog! Look into dog behavior and ensure that your snuggle time is safe, secure and comfortable for both of you.
